KQED Chooses DaletPlus Radio Suite

KQED, a San Francisco-based public radio broadcaster and the most-listened-to public radio station in the country, has chosen to upgrade their facilities to DaletPlus Radio Suite

Dalet today announced that KQED, a San Francisco based public radio broadcaster and the most-listened-to public radio station in the country, has chosen to upgrade their facilities to DaletPlus Radio Suite, the new enterprise radio production and playout platform from Dalet. KQED will deploy DaletPlus Radio Suite across 75 workstations, including several master control and production control rooms and four remote news bureaus. The upgrade is to integrate KQED programming and playout into one seamless production and broadcast environment so as to optimize on-air operations as well as multi-platform content distribution.

“With DaletPlus Radio Suite, KQED will be bringing their digital production and playout workflow to a whole new level of integration,” explains Mr. Benjamin Desbois, General Manager of Dalet USA. “KQED has been using Dalet technology since 1999 and they’ve always pushed the envelope so as to take advantage of the best of digital technology with one goal: provide the best service to their content production teams.”

“As a leading public radio producer and broadcaster with a staff of more than 60 people, two full-service FM stations, four news bureaus and a substantial online audience, the systems supporting our core newsgathering, production, metadata management, and scheduling functions need to be robust, flexible, scalable, and seamlessly interoperable,” says Daniel Mansergh, Director of Engineering for KQED Public Radio. “DaletPlus RadioSuite does it all in one system, which is a huge advantage when you’re always on deadline.”

DaletPlus Radio Suite offers KQED a unified platform for production, programming and broadcast. KQED staff use DaletPlus Radio Suite to ingest audio feeds, edit news material and music programs, assign and edit stories, build and manage rundowns, and broadcast all from one user interface. The clever Dalet on-air capabilities enable KQED staff to make updates to the rundown “on the fly” allowing for last minute changes. The streamlined workflow maximizes efficiency providing for faster productions and time to air. Multi-platform content distribution will be all the more facilitated that DaletPlus Radio Suite embeds automated media conversion into the workflow, accelerating the distribution of programs to interactive platforms.
