Dalet announced today that Mahuaa News, the recently launched all news TV channel in India, has begun using Dalet News Suite, the end-to-end media asset management solution tailored for news production and playout. Working with Dalet Indian business partner, Ideal Broadcasting India Pvt Ltd, the Mahuaa deployment is the first Dalet end-to-end, 24/7 news station in India. The 24/7 news channel is part of an ambitious plan by Mahuaa Media Private Limited (MMPL) to offer several highly targeted, thematic TV channel in the Bhojpuri language, one of the most popular regional languages in India. MMPL is associated with media company Century Communications Group.

Forty Dalet equipped workstations are used for various elements of news production at Mahuaa News. Desktop tools are job-relevant, configured to meet specific tasks including video ingest, browsing and metadata logging, news copy preparation (including wires and scripting), preparation of video packages (rough cuts and edls) and rundown management for playout.

Dalet Xtend plug-in for Apple Final Cut Pro (FCP) is one example of how Dalet News Suite provides fluid workflows. Journalists make rough-cut edits in Dalet Media Cutter and more comprehensive editing and effects are handled in Final Cut Pro. The Dalet Xtend module allows for direct importing between the Dalet browser and Final Cut Pro bins resulting in a streamlined production chain. Across the entire workflow, Dalet News Suite monitors the status of all items and updates the rundown automatically as packages are completed. Dalet News Suite controls video ingest and playout via an Omneon Media Deck server for flawless broadcast execution.
In addition to the 24/7 Mahuaa News programming, the newsroom also generates six short newscasts daily for Pragya TV.
