France Télévisions Wins 2025 EBU Tech & Innovation Award with Dalet Collaboration

This recognition celebrates groundbreaking initiatives that push the boundaries of broadcasting technology and media production.

France Télévisions, France’s leading broadcaster, has received the 2025 EBU Technology & Innovation Award in partnership with Dalet for their innovative project, C2PA in Action: Daily Verified News. The prestigious award, presented by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), recognizes innovative initiatives that advance broadcasting technology or media production processes. The project integrates the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) standards into France Télévisions’ newsroom, tackling a key industry challenge: combating misinformation and ensuring content authenticity in the age of AI-generated media and deep fakes. This achievement underscores France Télévisions’ and Dalet’s leadership in driving innovation and integrity in media.

Looking to set a new benchmark for transparency in journalism, France Télévisions partnered with Dalet to create an innovative proof of concept (PoC) that integrates C2PA standards into newsroom workflows. Focused on their flagship Journal de 20h news program, the project equips audiences with tools to verify the integrity and origin of content.

The implementation involves three core technical components:

  • Signing the Content: Each piece of media was cryptographically signed using an identity certificate, confirming its origin from France Télévisions.
  • Embedding Metadata: Essential editorial details, such as journalist names and broadcast dates, were included in the C2PA manifest.
  • Verification on Digital Platforms: A custom player developed by France Télévisions allowed audiences to access and verify C2PA metadata, ensuring transparency and trust.

By prioritizing authenticity, this initiative not only enhances trust in media, but also modernizes newsroom operations to meet the challenges of today’s digital landscape.

“We are honored to have received the prestigious EBU Technology and Innovation Award in recognition of the groundbreaking project we have developed to ensure our audiences receive reliable and trustworthy information,” said Romuald Rat, Director of TechLab-AI at France Télévisions. “By automating the C2PA signing process within our existing production environment, we’ve been able to enhance transparency and build confidence for our viewers. Partnering with Dalet on this innovative project was essential, and close collaboration played a key role in its success.”

An important aspect of this project was the seamless integration of C2PA throughout the media supply chain. This ensures both effectiveness and scalability, tackling challenges like synthetic media head-on. Dalet’s open architecture and commitment to a sustainable ecosystem reflect our dedication to modernizing the industry.

Mathieu Zarouk, VP of Product Management at Dalet, added, “This award reflects our dedication to co-designing innovative solutions with our customers. C2PA is a recent, open standard with many possible paths for implementation, which is why early collaboration with an industry leader like France Télévisions was so critical. Their expertise ensured we were building in the right direction. This recognition highlights the impact of that close partnership and our shared commitment to innovation, trust, and transparency in media. Together, we’ve laid a strong foundation for a robust content authenticity ecosystem that benefits both professionals and audiences worldwide.”

This award-winning partnership exemplifies Dalet’s customer-centric approach, working closely with France Télévisions to create a solution that meets the specific challenges of the news industry. By pushing the boundaries of innovation, Dalet is not only enhancing its solutions, but also driving progress across the entire media sector, ensuring journalism remains a trusted source of information in an era of rampant misinformation.
