Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of media management tools for more than a decade, today announced enhanced support for HD Radio and simplified Podcast distribution. Dalet flagship radio products Dalet 5.1 and DaletPlus Radio Suite now support the iBiquity encoder enabling Program Associated Data (PAD) or Main Program Service data to be automatically transmitted during broadcast. As a result, programs broadcast with Dalet 5.1 and DaletPlus Radio Suite can dynamically update HD Radio receiver screens to inform listeners of what’s currently playing. This OnAir plug-in also supports RDS for FM, PAD for DAB and XML for web streaming platforms.
“Dalet is actively engaged along with iBiquity to ensure the swift and successful adoption of HD Radio technology,” explains Stephane Guez, Chief Technology Officer, Dalet Digital Media Systems. “It was all the more natural for us to make our products HD compliant that radio remains a strategic market for Dalet; providing best of breed solutions to broadcasters is the cornerstone of our value proposition.”
In addition to support for HD Radio, Dalet will be demonstrating simplified podcast distribution at the NAB Radio Show held in Dallas Texas September 20 – 22 (stand 420). Thanks to a dedicated plug-in, DaletPlus Radio Suite users can now “click and cast” any audio asset from their digital audio library. Format conversion and associated metadata insertion are automated and the resulting MP3 file is pushed to a predefined directory over the LAN or WAN. This automated content publication simplifies content distribution and syndication and perfectly illustrates the multiplatform “create once, broadcast many” philosophy that drives Dalet products.
DaletPlus Radio Suite provides a comprehensive set of easy-to-use production, playout and workflow management tools for news stations and radio networks. Modular in design, DaletPlus Radio Suite can be implemented according to functionality needs or as a complete end-to-end radio news production and music programming solution.
For news stations, DaletPlus Radio Suite combines a comprehensive newsroom computer system with all the professional audio recording and production tools needed to facilitate the coverage of breaking events. Highly flexible, DaletPlus OnAir offers a user interface and layout that can be configured to the needs of an individual broadcast studio or studio operator. News reading is facilitated by an integrated news prompter and program associated data for digital radio platforms such as DAB, DRM or HD Radio is dynamically generated on the fly. For networks, DaletPlus Radio Suite facilitates the creation of multicast production facilities and paves the way to massive productivity gains. It pushes the envelope by combining a unique multi-user, multi-station music rotation engine with automated store and forward distribution engine.
Dalet 5.1 provides an end-to-end turn-key solution for radio stations seeking a digital production and playout system. Scalable, Dalet 5.1 grows with the needs of any operation. All music, audio files, associated metadata and programming information are stored in a central content catalogue which can be accessed from any workstation connected to a standard Ethernet computer network: a radio station can easily start with a couple of workstations and expand its operations as it goes. The Dalet 5.1 interface is Windows based so it is user friendly. The infrastructure it runs on uses mission critical computer technology so as to guarantee on-air reliability; Dalet 5.1 takes advantage of the latest network, server and storage technology so broadcasters can choose the platform they need to ensure the level of availability they require. Finally, with over 35 distinct modules, Dalet 5.1 is incredibly flexible. It covers the whole workflow from distributed ingest and multi-track editing, to multi-channel scheduling, live assist and automated broadcast. Content distribution and archiving can also be automated. Broadcasters pick and choose the modules they need to meet the requirements of their station’s workflow and add functionality when needed.
