Dalet Boosts Social Media for the Newsroom at NAB 2018
Dalet Social Media Framework puts social networks at the heart of multiplatform news production

Dalet Boosts Social Media for the Newsroom

Dalet Social Media Framework puts social networks at the heart of multiplatform news production.

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, announced today it will showcase at NAB 2018 (booth SL8010) new capabilities for producers and journalists to tackle the rapidly growing role of social media in the newsroom. “Reuters Institute Digital News Report * stated that in 2017 more than 51% of those sampled (in the US) get news via social media networks. This was up five percentage points from 2016 and twice as many from 2013,” explains Arnaud Elnecave, vice president of marketing at Dalet. “In order to keep pace with today’s hyper-active non-stop news cycle and audiences’ desire for new forms of content interactions, Dalet has interwoven social media functions into every facet of the newsroom. From using social media as a source, all the way to engaging audiences in complementary experiences, this new suite tools have been designed for publishers to very simply and effectively treat social media as an integrated part of their overall day to day operations, alongside traditional outlets.

Powered by the Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management, Workflow Orchestration and Editorial platform, the newly revved Dalet Social Media Framework enables editorial teams to harvest, aggregate, analyze, produce and deliver fast-paced news to social media networks, while the rest of the platform helps free up editorial time by further automating business as usual for the more traditional outlets. New Dalet Social Framework capabilities available with the Dalet Galaxy five release and shown at NAB 2018 include:

  • Aggregator: This new feature offers a friendly and efficient UI to use social threads as news sources. Journalists can simply subscribe to topics they need to follow. The module automatically aggregates and displays matching threads.

  • Track story popularity: Real-time engagement data presented in familiar social media style data lets journalists know how their posts are performing with audiences and assists in gauging new story angles.

  • Support for Facebook business pages: In addition to the ability to publish to Facebook personal accounts, journalists can now publish to business pages with full control over draft or as a final post.

  • Advanced social media staging: The new feature allows to time and schedule posts either solo or alongside a developing story (before, during and after a story airs). It also includes the ability to submit and approve social media stories.

  • Emoji library: A 6,000 character Emoji library used by Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat communicators is now part of the Dalet Social Media Framework.

News Production, Creation and Distribution for a Multimedia World

The flexible Dalet Galaxy five platform allows news operations to either distribute to social media via a traditional CMS integration or to connect directly to Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. This increases the speed in which news is delivered to a global audience and gives journalists full control over their news engagement with the audience.

Dalet’s New Social Media Capabilities are Trending for News Pros
The massive amount of content available to journalists on social media is both a gift and a curse. The ‘wisdom of the crowds’ scenario on social media platforms provides journalists a wealth of real-time commentary on what is - to the digital majority - top breaking news and hot topic trends. News pros can leverage these trending topics to quickly tap into and engage with audiences on what is important to them at that very moment. Great, right? Not exactly. The downside: There has been no effective way to methodically aggregate, harvest, and easily utilize this social media content for a 360-news narrative. It’s a painful manual process to download social content, bring into your MAM, log it and then utilize key pieces for your story. That is, until NAB 2019... Leveraging social media in evolving narratives The Dalet Galaxy five Social Media Framework new “Aggregator Panel,” which made its debut at NAB 2019, solves this obstacle for storytellers who want to leverage social commentary for their evolving narratives. Journalists can set the Dalet Social Media Framework Aggregator Panel to follow any number of topics. The Dalet system will automatically compile - in real time - a running list of the tagged social media posts. Users can easily browse posts and select to download only those posts that are relevant to their story. Behind the scenes, metadata is automatically extracted and indexed in the Dalet Galaxy five content catalog. The intuitive dashboard lets users neatly organize multiple social media storylines. Simple drag and drop of content into carts lets users quickly reutilize posts in breaking stories. Thanks to the underlying Dalet Workflow Engine, the newsroom can automate workflows such as turning social posts into ready-to-air CGs and graphics, making it easy to reutilize content over multiple platforms quickly. <iframe width="100%" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/D-tqWCz8geU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> In most newsroom environments today, the news producer typically does not have much visibility into what is happening on the digital side of the operation. In a similar scenario, the digital team typically has difficulties accessing the assets including video, images, and scripts that have been created by the producer and news staff. The new Aggregator Panel provides a bridge between these two worlds. More than managing the social media bits in a way that can be used within the story quickly and easily, the new Aggregator Panel gives the newsroom a direct window into the social media world and beyond and digital teams access to the valuable assets being developed in the newsroom. Hello (collaborative) social media workflows The Dalet Galaxy five platform allows both groups to share assets and tools, essentially, creating an entire collaborative social media- friendly workspace. The beauty of the new Dalet Aggregator Panel is that it captures a social post so that content itself is available for production immediately within the collaborative space. Journalists can set the Dalet Social Media Aggregator Panel to follow any number of topics. Simple drag and drop of posts lets users quickly share and reutilize content in breaking stories. That video that is downloaded with the Dalet Aggregator Panel, is not just ‘downloading.’ Dalet recognizes it’s associated to a tweet and transcodes it into a mezzanine format with the correct aspect ratio for production. It automatically places it in the storage system with the metadata form filled out. For the users, it's just a drag-and-drop of the tweet. On the back end, Dalet Galaxy five does all of the heavy lifting. The user can just open it in Dalet OneCut or another editor and start working. The feature is called ‘Tweet to Edit’! It’s the same process for the creation of the graphic. As soon as you transform a tweet into a graphic, that graphic becomes an object within Dalet that you can either schedule in your production rundown or you can play it out on air with your news package. And of course, this is called ‘Tweet to Graphics’. While the Dalet Galaxy five Social Media Framework is great for journalists to publish their social media content, your digital teams may already use another social media management platform. However, for the digital teams, Dalet Galaxy five Social Media Framework does solve a big pain point, and that is efficiency in planning. Many digital teams manage planning using a shared Word or Excel type of document. This static approach provides no insight into the overall newsroom planning. With Dalet Galaxy five and the new Aggregator Panel, digital teams can plan with a full view of the newsroom activities and access to all content, including the harvested social assets. Dalet Introduces Game-Changing Remote Editing Framework at NAB 2019
Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, will showcase its new Dalet Remote Editing framework at NAB 2019 (booth SL6610). The highly scalable framework brings the full-featured multimedia editing capabilities and speed to the editors working in the field or at remote offices without requiring a PAM/MAM at every location. Media organizations in fast-paced production markets such as news, sports and reality TV often have extensive in-the-field production needs that are critical to their business. Unmitigated access to content located at the central hub and accelerated media exchange from the field to home and back are paramount for success. The Dalet Remote Editing framework securely connects journalists, producers, editors and other content creators to the central content hub, enabling the in-the-field/remote users to edit, assemble, collaborate and quickly submit packages or download high-resolution media to finalize locally even in low-bandwidth situations. The first release of the new Dalet Remote Editing framework will support Dalet OneCut natively with subsequent updates supporting Dalet Xtend-compatible third-party editing applications. “With the Dalet Remote Editing framework, video editors located just about anywhere have the same robust editing experience as those editors located within the four walls of the central hub, even when they have a degraded network connection,” states Golan Tsarfaty, editing product line manager, Dalet. “Most Dalet customers want to centralize content resources in the main hub yet have a local presence via their remote bureaus, freelancers or simply people working in the field. This new Remote Editing framework provides a gateway to optimize content sharing across multiple locations without requiring the deployment of a MAM or PAM beyond the central hub.” The Dalet Remote Editing framework leverages the AWS infrastructure and Dalet smart-caching technology to eliminate problematic security, latency and other roadblocks that usually limit remote productions, transforming the entire in-the-field video editing experience and workflow for both users and media companies. “It solves two key issues. First, it offers a high-quality user experience when editing content from anywhere; and second, it simplifies the network configurations and infrastructure management for access to central content by remote users,” Tsarfaty adds. “It’s an incredible technical innovation that is going to help our customers make a quantum leap forward with regards to mobility at work, remote productions and working with freelancers.” Dalet Remote Editing framework workflows shown at NAB 2019 At NAB 2019, Dalet will demonstrate how the new editing framework lets journalists working in the field share with the central hub content they’ve captured locally, via a secure HTTPS Internet connection. Simultaneously, they will show how journalists preparing a story while on the go can preview and pull in content from the central catalog or the archive, and mix it with locally captured footage, using a stand-alone editor. In addition to the in-the-field journalist workflow, Dalet teams will demonstrate the efficient cross-site video editing and collaboration capabilities the new framework brings for content exchange between bureaus and sites. “One of the big challenges media organizations faced in enabling a proper in-the-field/remote editing workflow was the costly and somewhat limiting infrastructure available to them,” Tsarfaty explains. “Dedicated hardware, added layers of security for accessing the central hub, and VPN scenarios limited the ability to deploy truly robust remote production workflows and scale at will. These typical setups also hindered the user collaboration and overall experience as you still experienced latency and access issues. With Dalet Remote Editing, there is no overhead. You can scale your productions as you need, pay for infrastructure as you go, and offer the video editing experience your staff requires to create outstanding content, efficiently and quickly, from anywhere. NAB Show attendees will be able to see how this is done right on the Dalet booth.” NAB 2019 attendees can book a private demonstration or workflow consultation with a Dalet expert to learn more about the new Dalet Galaxy five remote editing framework at: https://www.dalet.com/events/nab-show-2019 Dalet Press Briefings at NAB 2019 To schedule a press briefing with Dalet, please contact Alex Molina. Dalet Galaxy five Propels Delivery of Music, News and Historical Content for Israeli Broadcaster Galei Tsahal
Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that Israeli national radio network Galei Tsahal (Galatz) is upgrading to the Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management (MAM) and Workflow Orchestration platform to enable workflows that better serve its audience with greater access to content across its digital channels and social networks. A leading music radio station that sets the tone and playlist for the country, Galatz is also known for its news and thematic programs featuring politicians, military leaders, and influential citizens. A Dalet customer since 2006, Galatz undertook the upgrade to enhance production and delivery of its music and news-related content through social media networks, enhance its reporters’ abilities to file stories from the field using Dalet On-the-Go, and use AI-powered speech-to-text algorithms to enable wider accessibility to its rich historical archives, which date back to its founding in 1950. “The upgrade to Dalet Galaxy five is enabling us to build a new content value chain, better integrating our social media channels across our operations, and leveraging AI services to make our entire inventory more discoverable and better monetized,” states Izak Pasternak, head of the technical department, Galatz. “We are able to make this quantum leap forward with the confidence of a decade-long partnership that is embedded in collaboration and success.” Amplifying audience engagement With Dalet Galaxy five, Galatz will be able to make all content that is produced in the production system available to social media publishing with a click of a button. Social media content performance (views, likes, shares) will be analyzed by the broadcaster; that data will be used to make better-informed decisions as to what to provide audiences next, helping to deliver a more enjoyable experience to listeners. Because the system is fully integrated with social channels, Galatz will be able to easily tap into the newly indexed archives and distribute topical collections of historical content across social networks - something that they have not been able to do before. Izak explains, “In terms of social media, today there is no connection between the system that is broadcasting content and the social media channels we want to publish to. With more and more people consuming news and content through social networks, it’s imperative for us to move to an integrated platform that can help us engage with audiences on a whole new level. Dalet Galaxy five enables us to do just that.” Reporting from the field Connecting in-the-field reporters directly to the newsroom, Dalet On-the-Go lets journalists organize and submit comprehensive news packages from their mobile device. Users can record interviews, write stories, and assemble and upload packages to the Dalet Galaxy five content catalog for sharing across the station or sending direct to air. AI opens the archives With a vast amount of valuable historic information under its care, Galatz wanted to make its archives open to the public for the first time online. Leveraging Dalet Media Cortex, the new AI cloud service of Dalet Galaxy five, the network applied AI-driven, speech-to-text algorithms to all archived content, turning it into text that is both searchable and accessible via an online portal. "Until now our content producers had to manually add metadata into the media asset management system, then an archivist would review it to make sure it was filled in properly,” explains Izak. “If our archives team wanted to find something, they had to remember how it might be catalogued and in which categories. Going back into the archive to transcribe it all manually would have been cost-prohibitive.” Izak continues, “Now, with Dalet Media Cortex everything is searchable since it’s processed through the speech-to-text engine. This saves us significant resource time and effort. And what’s more important, Israeli citizens can sit at home and enjoy the archive, simply by searching online. Dalet Media Cortex has made it extremely easy to search and find content from any point in time since 1950, which to a large degree, is the history of Israel itself.” Dalet’s Johann Zemmour, general manager of Dalet EMEA and APAC concludes, “Dalet is proven time and time again as a trusted technical partner to help customers achieve successful business transformations. In this case for Galatz, Dalet’s forward-thinking development of AI tools within Dalet Media Cortex enables the network to expand the use of its archives by making an extremely large amount of content available and searchable to its citizens. That could not have been realistically achieved by any other means.” Zemmour concludes, “Galatz recognizes the importance of providing its audience with experiences on the platforms of their choice and worked closely with Dalet to deliver on that demand.” About Dalet Digital Media Systems Dalet solutions and services enable media organisations to create, manage and distribute content faster and more efficiently, fully maximising the value of assets. TV Centre Upgrades to the new Dalet Galaxy five Platform
Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that Moscow-based station ТВ Центр (TV Centre) will upgrade its media operation to the new Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management (MAM) and Orchestration platform, propelling an HD and beyond production and multiplatform distribution workflow that better connects content with their audience on the device of their choice. A Dalet customer since 2006, TV Centre is a state-run Russia TV station with the fourth largest coverage in Russia after Dalet-powered broadcasters Channel One, Russia-1 and NTV. Dedicated to programming that highlights various aspects of the Capital life, the channel airs nationally and is also broadcasted outside of Russian territory. Facilitating TV Centre newsroom and program media needs from ingest to delivery, the initial Dalet installation featured the Dalet MAM with end-to-end News production, NCRS and playout for the newsroom and embedded production tools for unified search, assembly and distribution of program content. Under the new progressive Dalet Galaxy five powered workflow, TV Centre will move into HD production and delivery with the ability to support higher resolutions in the future. The broadcaster will also leverage the new Dalet Galaxy five Social Media Framework capabilities to further streamline its news content supply chain and expand its audience reach, outputting news content to all major social channels including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. In addition to advancing its social media initiatives, the broadcaster will also be able to integrate its digital platform to its CMS for rapid publishing of news online. Completing the upgrade will be full integration of TV Centre Archives. "The operational goal driving the upgrade to Dalet Galaxy five was our transition to the HD and AVC Intra as our mezzanine format,” explains Alexey Brusnitsky, technical director TV Centre. “However, this move is much more than a technical uplift and there is a bigger strategic picture at play for us at TV Centre. We also wanted to take advantage of the migration to evolve our operation and meet the changing demands of our audience as well as enable future technologies. We felt the Dalet Galaxy five platform offered the agility required to deliver on this ambition with Dalet as our trusted technology partner to help us get to that next level.” Leveraging the Dalet Galaxy five Workflow Engine, TV Centre can now build and orchestrate ingest, transcoding and news automation workflows as well as employ specific archive file migration policies across the entire operation. “The Dalet Galaxy five API integrations are also very appealing for TV Centre specifically for their archives,” explains Johann Zemmour, general manager Dalet EMEA and APAC. “Connecting the archives into the workflow will give them a fluid, connected movement of content from ingest to playout to archive. Further, Dalet Galaxy five will give them the ability to employ IMF workflows in the future utilizing the Dalet AmberFin media processing platform and the Dalet Workflow Engine. The ease with which TV Centre has been able to advance its production and distribution capabilities while integrating a range of in-house systems, underlines just how robust and flexible Dalet Galaxy five is as a platform in which you can evolve the operation and maximize your ROI." Telefe Upgrades to Dalet Galaxy five
Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that leading free-to-air Argentine network Telefe is to drive an expansive multiplatform workflow with the Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management (MAM) and Orchestration platform. The massive upgrade encompasses program preparation, production, output, and archive and will principally improve Telefe’s automation and social media workflow. Owned and operated by Viacom International Media Networks since 2016, Televisión Federal (known as Telefe) reaches 95% of all households in Argentina, a country of 43 million. Headquartered in Buenos Aires, it produces more than 3,000 hours of Spanish language video content each year distributed across eight regional channels, as well as a significant and growing multi-platform presence and, distributed globally over pay TV channel Telefe Internacional. Telefe also manages a library of over 33,000 hours of content. Dalet has facilitated Telefe’s broadcast, post, and archive workflows since 2014. The comprehensive installation gives Telefe producers, editors, assistant editors, and operators direct access to archives and workflow tools. “We need to serve our audience by reaching them wherever they are and that means a huge expansion in our social media distribution,” explained Santiago Matias Guimerans Soto, vice president of technology and operations at Telefe. “Having successfully based our media operations on Dalet for many years it was natural for us to upgrade to Dalet Galaxy five to take advantage in particular of the workflow engine. This will give us greater agility and speed in developing new workflows to accommodate the creation and publication of content to social media and future platforms. Dalet is a solution that Telefe can continue to grow with over time. It helps us create new forms of revenue and reduces our time to market.” Telefe plans to design and build an integrated media supply chain that encompasses ingest, transcoding and distribution using the Dalet Galaxy five workflow designer tool. The Dalet AmberFin media processing platform seamlessly integrates with Dalet Galaxy Five and drives Telefe’s QC workflows. Production and publishing of all program content to applications such as Mi Telefe (My Telefe) and Telefe Noticias (Telefe News) as well as YouTube, Facebook and other classic social media platforms will be much more efficient in Dalet Galaxy five. “Telefe already represents one of Dalet’s largest installations in South America and our partnership is further strengthening with this next technology leap,” explains Julien Decaix, general manager Dalet Americas. “It is Dalet’s proven ability to connect production, post-production, and archives combined with the ease of content publishing to outlets like YouTube and emerging consumer platforms that first attracted Telefe. The flexibility of Dalet Galaxy five further allows them to smoothly integrate and manage the different video formats used by Viacom together with those of Telefe. The initial Dalet investment continues to give them complete interoperability five years later while enabling them to orchestrate new workflows introduced by outside operations with ease. This is a tremendous return on investment.” About Dalet Digital Media Systems Dalet solutions and services enable media organisations to create, manage and distribute content faster and more efficiently, fully maximising the value of assets. A town square for Europe - Euronews NBC
Renowned news innovator Deborah Turness reveals how she is harnessing new tech, platforms and formats to bring Euronews into the heart of the story and how she turned NBC back into a number one ‘challenger brand’. After a four-year stint in New York, bolstering NBC’s flagship news output, its former US president is one year into her next mission: transforming Euronews NBC into ‘a town square for Europe’. Last June NBC took a 25% stake in the Lyon-based news channel, which led to Deborah Turness’ return from across the pond to become the first president of NBC News International and to oversee content for the new Euronews NBC. According to the British journalist and self-confessed Francophile, NBC had been looking for the right vehicle to boost its international profile for some time and Euronews, which broadcasts in 12 languages to around 3.3m viewers, reaching more than 160 countries, fit the bill perfectly. Dalet Introduces Dalet Galaxy five at NAB 2018
Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, today announced that it will unveil Dalet Galaxy five at NAB 2018. The new version of the award-winning media asset management and workflow orchestration platform brings a number of important functional enhancements and three major technology innovations that augment media operations and enable new forward-thinking business models. The first enables broadcasters and media organizations to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the workflow, the second leverages hybrid infrastructures with on-premises and Cloud deployments, the third puts social media at the core of the operations. “Dalet Galaxy five converges new media frameworks and leading-edge technology that enable true business and operational transformation,” states Arnaud Elnecave, vice president of marketing, Dalet. “At NAB, we will show how this new version delivers more value with practical applications of new AI integrations, hybrid operations and social media workflows, along with the many enhancements across editing, show automation, multiplatform production, workflow orchestration and collaboration.” NAB 2018 attendees can book a private demonstration or workflow consultation with a Dalet expert to learn more about the following Dalet Galaxy five feature highlights: Artificial Intelligence Framework The new Dalet Galaxy five AI framework connects, orchestrates and fine-tunes purpose-driven combinations of AI models, enabling media organizations to build intelligent workflows that assist users with recommendations, facilitate collaboration with smart matching, and use predictive analytics for better provisioning and automated decision-making. Elnecave elaborates on the key aspects of the new framework, “For media operations to get full business value from AI, it requires the right method and the appropriate platform. The new AI framework is designed to orchestrate combinations of cognitive services, fine-tune the models, version the data sets, align them with customers’ taxonomies, and eventually surface the results at various levels of the Dalet application stack to provide actionable insights and real business value to the users and to the organization.” Dalet Content Discovery, the first application to leverage this new AI framework, will be showcased at NAB 2018. The new module uses data generated by cognitive services, combined with existing metadata, to build smart content recommendations for editorial and creative teams. Deployed as part of the Dalet Unified News Operations and Sports Production solution, Dalet Content Discovery leverages automatic content tagging, topic extraction and key phrase searches, orchestrating a combination of Auto Indexing and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology. Social Media Framework The Dalet Social Media framework enables newsrooms to treat social media as an integrated part of their overall news operation. Journalists can harvest, analyze, produce and deliver fast-paced news on social media platforms alongside traditional outlets. The story-centric workflow offers familiar indicators such as number of views, likes, shares, as well as audience comments and threads. Visual engagement data lets journalists know how their posts are performing with their audience and discover new angles audiences are expecting. With analytical tools and dynamic content at their fingertips, journalists can quickly evolve posts into deeper stories or segue into a new angle. New capabilities include social media popularity indicators, Twitter harvester, scheduling and approval of social posts, expanded emoji library, contextual graphics and subtitles. Hybrid Workflows and Operations Dalet Galaxy five introduces new integrations with AWS infrastructure services, enabling hybrid scalable architectures that help minimize content handling costs and introduce more mobility in the user experience while enhancing the security of content. Elnecave elaborates, “Dalet is offering a tight and seamless integration with AWS. Two examples, which will be shown on the stand, are the auto-scalability capability to save on infrastructure costs and the native support of S3 and Glacier. The latter provides a seamless user experience; for instance, content served to our web-based and mobile app clients Dalet WebSpace and Dalet On-the-Go respectively can be hosted on and streamed directly from S3.” The new hybrid capabilities will be illustrated at NAB 2018 with four distinct Dalet Galaxy five workflows – Archive in the Cloud, External Content Review, Multi-Site Federation & Content Sharing, and Disaster Recovery. Enhanced Workflow Orchestration The new version of the Dalet Workflow Engine included in Dalet Galaxy five offers enhanced task management, high availability and new API services that simplify the integration with third-party systems. Recently added capabilities shown at NAB 2018 include top-down view of group tasks and shared task lists as well as task time tracking and data aggregation for reporting and analysis. Component-Based Workflows Power Multiplatform Productions Dalet Galaxy five disintermediates the media supply chain, allowing users to produce, manage and distribute content at the component level, a much more efficient and flexible way to facilitate complex and mass content volume workflows such as multiplatform news production and international programs preparation, localization and versioning. Elnecave explains, “In a traditional workflow you need to re-render your entire project several times throughout its lifecycle including every version you need to distribute. The Dalet Galaxy five data model and toolset allow comprehensive component-based workflows. A much more flexible approach that de-duplicates media and offers significant savings on production time and delivery, both critical for managing complex international versioning workflows.” The model is particularly adapted to new families of standards such as the Interoperable Mastering Format or IMF. Dalet Galaxy five features a comprehensive set of tools within Dalet Webspace to manage end-to-end component-based IMF workflows from acquisition to production, versioning, packaging and distribution. This includes receiving IMF packages, referencing IMF assets in a central repository, leveraging IMF metadata, both technical and editorial, to search on all assets and data; generating proxies for preview of track files and CPLs in Dalet WebSpace; visualizing assets relationships (track files and CPLs, CPLs and OPLs), automating the creation of new versions, connecting CPLs using EIDR (Entertainment Identifier Registry) and ISAN (International Standard Audiovisual Number) ids. Enhanced Collaboration Beyond media management, Dalet Galaxy five is a full communication and collaboration platform for connected teams. New collaboration enhancements include Media Bins that provide the ultimate in media sharing flexibility; Dalet On-the-Go brings programs management tools to your phone and tablet; the updated Dalet Chat capabilities allow users to work by thread and embed assets such as graphics, audio and video files to provide a more comprehensive communication stream. Comprehensive Editing Experience Dalet Galaxy five offers a more comprehensive and collaborative editing experience to fit any workflow and editor's needs. Dalet Webspace features a story-boarder for cut editing anywhere; the Dalet OneCut built-in desktop editor gets richer with more editing tracks, new transitions and effects; the Dalet Xtend integration with Adobe Premiere Pro CC expands to support Adobe Projects as well as the Dalet CG-on-the-Timeline model. Enhanced Show Automation Expanding production control automation capabilities, Dalet Galaxy five offers a new version of Dalet On-Air, featuring new automation events macros for control of studio devices such as lighting, audio and camera position but also deep integration of these automation events with the full orchestration layer of the platform. Business Intelligence The new version of the Dalet Report Center features new set of data extractions and data model that supports analysis and reporting on a new set of business indicators. At NAB 2018, Dalet will illustrate this with some first business reports focused on a typical news operation and its contents. Chilean Broadcaster Mega TV Deploys Dalet Unified News Operations
Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, announced today that Chilean Broadcaster Mega TV is revamping its operations with the Dalet Unified News Operations solution powered by Dalet Galaxy, the leading Media Asset Management (MAM), Orchestration and Editorial platform for news production and distribution. Key to the decision is the agility of the Dalet platform and its ability to meet the future requirements of Mega TV, supporting traditional as well as new-generation digital and social media news production and distribution workflows. A Dalet customer since 2012, Mega TV is one of Latin America’s highest-flying free-to-air broadcast networks and the first private broadcaster in Chile. Headquartered in Santiago, the channel is among the country’s most watched with its line-up of sitcoms, magazine shows and daily news shows including “Ahora Noticias.” “We are keen to expand our footprint and to better engage audiences with the best news content across all possible viewing and listening platforms,” explains Saúl Ureta, technical manager for Mega TV. “As we seek to grow our broadcast portfolio we were faced with a strategic decision. Do we work with independent production and post-production systems which might create silos in our workflow, or do we plan for the future and build a collaborative and highly efficient workflow for news that spans across all our channels? Our experience with Dalet convinced us that the platform was able to evolve and meet all our new requirements by accommodating many different operating and organizational models, latest standards & content formats, as well as a wide palette of integrations and connectors. The Dalet Unified News Operations solution in particular offers a much more fluid way of working as well as integrated tools for remote production and collaboration. The solution also comes with a full social media framework that empowers our teams to better engage with their audiences on social media as part of their everyday workflow.” The comprehensive solution will be implemented together with Dalet business partner Zer Digital. Dalet Unified News Operations not only replaces Mega TV’s existing newsroom computer system and news production system, it will bring a number of new tools and collaborative processes. Journalists, reporters and producers will be able to share assignments, stories and any assets, accessing a single system and toolset via configurable workspaces. Dalet WebSpace and the Dalet On-the-Go mobile app extend capabilities into the field, allowing authorized users to be part of connected workflows. The broadcaster will also leverage Dalet’s Social Media framework and award-winning Dalet Social Media Panel to harvest, plan, produce and deliver content efficiently to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, while gathering more data about the audiences and their engagement. Dalet Brio is core to the solution’s ingest and playout transactions of live news shows. The Dalet AmberFin media processing platform will be used for high-quality transcoding. Content packages will be crafted on Adobe® Premiere® Pro CC. The Adobe application is brought seamlessly into the collaborative workflow via Dalet Xtend. All of these are native or tightly coupled components controlled and orchestrated by Dalet Galaxy, which integrates with Mega TV’s content management system. “Continuing and enhancing our five-year old partnership with Mega TV is significant not just to support the development of their operations and business, but also for Dalet’s growing footprint and reputation within the wider South American market,” comments Julien Decaix, general manager Americas, Dalet. “Mega TV has fully demonstrated its ambition to be a forward-thinking and innovative broadcaster. Dalet is proud to be a strategic technical partner in this endeavor. In just about every country on the continent from Colombia to Brazil, Dalet is excited to be making inroads as a growing number of leading broadcasters choose to deploy Dalet’s future-proof solutions over boxed products in order to facilitate a more comprehensive digital transformation.” About Dalet Digital Media Systems Dalet solutions and services enable media organizations to create, manage and distribute content faster and more efficiently, fully maximizing the value of assets.
