Dalet and Veritone Collaborate to Further Media

Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, and Veritone® Inc. (NASDAQ: VERI), a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) insights and solutions, today announced a new collaboration.

Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, and Veritone® Inc. (NASDAQ: VERI), a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) insights and solutions, today announced a new collaboration. The new alliance will allow Dalet Galaxy customers to leverage Veritone’s industry-leading AI technology for automated metadata extraction and analysis, including speech-to-text transcription, face recognition, translation, object recognition, content moderation, logo recognition, and optical character recognition.
“Artificial Intelligence is one of our customers' top priorities. They recognize the power of AI to seamlessly and automatically process, transform and analyze data,” noted Frederic Roux, vice president of sales, Americas at Dalet. “We’re pleased to collaborate with Veritone in this effort to help media organizations capture new opportunities with smart workflow services that can easily become part of their existing installation.”
The amount of multimedia content created and consumed is growing at an exponential pace in all verticals. As broadcasters and media organizations look at the best ways to tame the tsunami, streamline workflows and maximize the value of content, AI-enriched media management and workflow solutions will become a vital part for continued relevance and sustainable growth. Potential business benefits are immense and immediately tangible: augmented production workflows with smart and timely recommendations, better content insights and discovery thanks to intelligent auto-tagging features, automation of more complex tasks in the process and, in the near future, smart resource provisioning and system scaling with self-adaptive capacity planning.

However, managing artificial intelligence at scale and fielding it in relevant use cases for media organizations require an advanced asset management and orchestration platform such as Dalet Galaxy. Leveraging on its flexible, media- and business-aware data model, as well as a fully featured integration framework, Dalet Galaxy offers a future-proof foundation to connect with Veritone's open, extensible ecosystem of AI engines and applications. By taking advantage of the Veritone Platform, Dalet Galaxy users will be able to search and exploit every frame of video and every second of audio for objects, faces, brands, text, sentiment, keywords and more. They will be able to discover unique insights, dissect and analyze content programmatically and by multivariate search, and monitor media in near real time.
“The rationale behind this collaboration is very simple: a common passion, focus and expertise in the media industry. The combination of the two complementary technologies spans across all media workflows, offering smarter services that unleash the potential of content, enhance the production experience, and reduce the complexity of content curation, ultimately enabling customers to create and deliver richer, better content to the right audience at the right time,” said Kevin Savina, director of product strategy at Dalet.
“We are thrilled to team up with Dalet, a leader in media asset and workflow management. The collaboration will empower Dalet Galaxy users with the new-found intelligence and impactful applications essential to remain competitive now and in the future,” added Ryan Steelberg, co-founder and president of Veritone.
Veritone makes AI accessible and actionable by combining more than 120 of the most advanced third-party engines across major cognitive functions with a suite of powerful applications and a proprietary orchestration layer, Conductor™, informed by machine learning. Deployable virtually anywhere, the Veritone Platform produces time-correlated, multi-dimensional metadata from audio and video data, unlocking new insights from linear files such as radio and TV broadcasts, call-center conversations and CCTV footage.

This next generation of augmented media operations is a strategic focus for Dalet. The company has deep internal expertise in these topics. Michael Elhadad, co-founder and head of technology at Dalet, is also a university professor and researcher in the fields of artificial intelligence and natural language processing.

A number of AI services have already been integrated with the Dalet Galaxy platform, such as automated collection and enrichment of advanced metadata. However, the unique AI capabilities of Veritone coupled with the Dalet Galaxy platform will provide broadcasters and media organizations with an end-to-end solution that will serve as an enabler to capture tomorrow's business opportunities and generate new benefits.

The new alliance between Dalet and Veritone will allow Dalet Galaxy customers to leverage Veritone’s industry-leading AI technology for automated metadata extraction and analysis

Dalet Releases Dalet Xtend for Adobe Premiere PRO CS6 Software
Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of Media Asset Management (MAM) solutions to broadcasters and content providers, announced the first version release of the Dalet Xtend module for Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS6 software. The new module, which provides seamless workflow collaboration between the Dalet Media Asset Management (MAM) platform and Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, will be demonstrated as part of Dalet’s MAM solutions for News, Sports, Program Prep, and Archiving workflows at the IBC 2012 Exhibition at RAI Centre in Amsterdam September 7 - 11, 2012 (Dalet stand 8.B77). “Dalet Xtend provides a level of interaction that goes well beyond simple export and import exchanges of EDLS between Dalet and Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. It’s an integration that leverages the Dalet API and Adobe SDK very effectively to offer tremendous functionalities that make the NLEs an integral part of the overall production rather than separate islands of production,” says Kevin Savina, director of product management, Dalet. “The operations between systems are much smoother and transparent. Most importantly, all the valuable metadata is maintained throughout the editing process. This interoperability significantly increases productivity and collaboration for editing workgroups.” “By working together on Dalet Xtend, we’ve delivered a unified environment that allows creative talent to work together with greater ease,” said Simon Williams, director of strategic relations at Adobe. "The Dalet Xtend integration with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 provides users with increased efficiency and productivity by presenting all the relevant data they need in a single interface and ensuring crucial metadata flows between the systems." Dalet Xtend for Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 makes production more seamless in every type of workflow scenario. Using the Xtend Panel, Adobe Premiere Pro users can connect directly to the Dalet database to view available content (clips, EDLs, raw videos, sound bytes, etc.). Dalet users can also push material, such as EDLs and clips created in Dalet, directly to Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 editor for finishing. The finished piece can then be exported back to Dalet as a new title or saved against a placeholder. It is also possible to trigger specific events, such as review and approval processes, when saving against a placeholder. The Dalet collaboration with Adobe is a long-term relationship, and additional feature enhancements are expected. For instance, when material is opened into the NLE, the different locators (QC information, sports logs, rights metadata, etc.) are visible to the users. The craft editors can also add additional metadata as they work. Essential information, such as descriptive locators and usage rights, flows back and forth and – thanks to the intelligent genealogy – is tracked by the Dalet content catalogue. The Dalet MAM engine expertly manages all metadata and media processes. Genealogy metadata linking the editor’s material to the original sources can be preserved and content is better referenced throughout, making searches of the content catalogue and archives more efficient; content is more readily accessible to everyone who needs it. Dalet Xtend can significantly reduce expensive in-suite production time, streamline the workflow, and improve media management. About Dalet Dalet solutions enable broadcasters and media professionals to create, manage, and distribute content to both traditional and new media channels, including interactive TV, the Web, and mobile networks. Dalet combines into a single system a robust and proven Asset Management platform with advanced metadata capabilities, a configurable workflow engine, and a comprehensive set of purpose-built creative and production tools. This integrated and open environment enables end-to-end management of the entire News and Sport and Program content chain and allows users to significantly improve efficiency and maximize the use and value of their assets. Dalet and Be Tomorrow Collaborate to Facilitate Second Screen Viewing
Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading developer of Media Asset Management (MAM) solutions, software and services for broadcasters, has collaborated with BeTomorrow, a digital agency and developer of sports apps, to produce a new app that streamlines live game and on-demand content production for second screen audiences. The app can also be repurposed for other types of sports. Visitors to the Dalet booth will be able to see how easy it is to leverage all the rich media assets and structured metadata stored in the Dalet MAM in conjunction with the BeTomorrow tennis app to gain additional viewership from users of mobile devices during live games and events. Content such as highlights, camera angles or interviews not shown during broadcasts, and information about players can also be easily packaged for on-demand viewing by mobile viewers through the same app. “This app illustrates very clearly how comprehensive Media Asset Management can open up many more business opportunities that can be executed easily. Without adding more resources, it’s possible to leverage produced content and metadata to embed second screen applications as part of the workflow,” says Raoul Cospen, director of marketing and business development, Dalet. “So it’s really about expanding live production in ways that enhance the consumer experience and garner more audience from second screen viewing.” “Second screen applications are growing in importance as a way for broadcasters to win viewers on different platforms and to include the users as active participants in entertainment and sports programs,” added Sylvie Clin, CEO, BeTomorrow. “We’re pleased to collaborate with Dalet in this effort to help broadcasters optimize new opportunities more simply with apps that can easily become part of their ongoing workflow.” About BeTomorrow Created in 2002, BeTomorrow is an independent company designing and developing highly innovative online services aimed at new media such as Internet, mobile phones, TV and more. Dalet MAM Integration with Telestream Vantage Optimizes Workflows for VOD Production and Distribution
Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading producer of Media Asset Management (MAM) solutions, software and services for content producers, has integrated its Dalet MAM system with Telestream Vantage® video transcoding and file-based workflow automation solution. The combination provides a powerful, cost-effective and time-saving way to accelerate the production of content for multiplatform and multilanguage distribution for VOD, OTT, second-screen viewing and other services. “The need for fast, efficient and automated transcoding and delivery of program content has never been greater. This advanced, API-based integration of the Dalet MAM with the Vantage transcoding and workflow system offer our customers a comprehensive and automated way to create and distribute multiple versions of content. The Dalet MAM maintains all kinds of essential information, such as rights information, start/stop dates, formats for different channels or services, language versions, logo branding, subtitles and business rules. Using these rules and datasets, the MAM drives all the different content workflow paths that are executed by Vantage,” says Raoul Cospen, director of marketing and business development, Dalet. “The bi-directional communication between systems makes the integration even more powerful as all of the newly created content can be linked to the original assets.” “Our goal is to simplify the creation of as many versions and flavors of the program content as needed with the least amount of effort. The integration of Vantage with Dalet’s MAM streamlines the workflow by bringing essential metadata from the MAM directly into the Vantage system where we transcode and prepare the content and then deliver the correct versions in virtually any format with customized branding for each channel,” says Paul Turner, vice president of enterprise product management, Telestream. “Our analysis tools can automatically detect black segments and detect loudness. Other quality control steps can be applied at any point in the workflow to ensure source and output video quality - and, of course, the Dalet MAM is simultaneously aware of all the processes being executed on our side. This Dalet/Vantage integration brings tremendous value to the customer.” Dalet’s MAM platform unifies many different broadcast, IT and business systems to provide comprehensive lifecycle media and metadata management across all types of systems and for all types of workflows in news, sports, program preparation, archiving and radio. The MAM includes a comprehensive content catalogue and a powerful workflow engine that automates many tasks and processes to increase productivity and provides operational and business visibility. Dalet Features Dalet Xtend for Adobe Premiere Pro CC at IBC 2013 and Announces Future Support for Adobe Anywhere for Video
Dalet Digital MediaSystems, a leading provider of Media Asset anagement (MAM) solutions to broadcasters and content producers, will feature the latest release of the Dalet Xtend module for Adobe® Premiere® Pro CC software during IBC2013 at RAI Centre in Amsterdam from September 13-17, 2013 (Dalet stand 8.B77). The Dalet Xtend module provides true workflow collaboration by enabling Dalet and Adobe users to work together on the same content. In addition, Xtend provides exceptional metadata handling, including bi-directional inheritance of rights information and genealogy to eliminate repetitive data entries and to facilitate production and multiplatform distribution. Hands-on demonstrations will show how Dalet’s easy-to-use panel interface for Adobe Premiere Pro CC facilitates production with Dalet’s flexible MAM solutions for News, Sports, Program Prep and Archiving workflows. Dalet and Adobe will also make a special joint presentation illustrating the benefits of this shared Dalet/Adobe production environment on Sunday, 15 September at 16:00 on the Dalet stand. “Dalet Xtend technology allows us to leverage the capabilities of the Dalet API with Adobe’s SDK to create a fluid workflow that goes much further than importing and exporting EDLs. From the user’s viewpoint, what’s in one system is visible in the other – the same content and the same metadata. There’s no need to duplicate entries. Usage rights are visible to all. Interactions are fast and transparent with metadata maintained throughout the editing process as the NLE is now fully integrated into the workflow rather than a separate island of production. It saves time and effort,”says Kevin Savina, director of product management, Dalet. “In the heat of a busy production cycle the ‘edit while recording’ capability is a real plus. Editing can begin even while recording is in progress. Files don’t need to be moved or copied. And there’s more functionality to come thanks to Adobe’s rich SDK. Our companies have an ongoing relationship and Dalet will also support Adobe Anywhere, a collaborative workflow platform that provides even greater collaboration for local and remote production.” “This integration with Dalet Xtend allows us to deliver a truly unified environment that allows creative teams to work together more easily and more effectively,” said Simon Williams, director of strategic relations at Adobe. "Essential metadata flows between the Dalet MAM and Adobe Premiere Pro CC, allowing users of both systems to access the content and all the relevant data they need within a single interface. It provides a more cohesive workflow that eliminates repetitive tasks and allows editors to concentrate on the creative aspects of their work.” Dalet Xtend for Adobe Premiere Pro CC streamlines production for every type of workflow (news, sports, promo production, etc.). From the Xtend Panel, Adobe Premiere Pro CC users can connect directly to the Dalet database to view available content (clips, EDLs, raw videos, sound bytes, etc.). Dalet users can also push material, such as EDLs and clips created in Dalet, directly to Adobe Premiere Pro CC editors for finishing. The finished piece can then be exported back to Dalet as a new title or saved against a placeholder. It is also possible to trigger specific events, such as review and approval processes or Web publishing, when saving against a placeholder. For instance, when material is opened into the NLE, the different locators (QC information, sports logs, rights metadata, etc.) are visible to the users. The craft editors can also add additional metadata as they work. Essential information, such as descriptive locators and usage rights, flows back and forth and is tracked by the Dalet content catalogue. The Dalet MAM engine expertly manages all metadata and media processes. Metadata linking the editor’s material to the original sources can be preserved and content is better referenced throughout, making searches of the content catalogue and archives more efficient; content is more readily accessible to everyone who needs it. Dalet Xtend can significantly reduce expensive in-suite production time, streamline the workflow, and improve media management. The future implementation of Dalet integration with Adobe Anywhere will further enhance the ability to share content and resources – whether locally or remotely. The integration with the Dalet MAM will facilitate the overall workflow by making content readily available and sharing media and critical metadata about rights, genealogy and business rules for distribution and archiving. Dalet Spotlights Partner Workflows at IBC2014
Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of software-based solutions for media organizations, is showcasing, along with its new three-platform lineup – Dalet Galaxy, Dalet AmberFin and Dalet Brio – key partner integrations and workflows from Adobe, Filemobile, Cinnafilm and Opta. Citizen Journalist Make Headlines The Dalet-Filemobile integration brings user-generated content (UGC) into the heart of the news workflow. Newsrooms use Filemobile’s geo-specific mobile alerts to geographically coordinate citizen journalists to cover breaking events. Citizens capture and upload pictures or videos via the Filemobile app (iOS and Android) where newsroom staff uses the Filemobile Media Factory to review and organize UGC for potential news packages. The approved material is automatically transferred to the Dalet content catalogue and made immediately available for production along with the newsroom’s professionally gathered content. Better Integration With Post Dalet Xtend lets Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid and Final Cut editors search, preview and retrieve video assets, EDLs and shot lists stored on the Dalet MAM content catalogue. Editors can quickly access and work on content, and then save their sequences or even the entire projects back to the MAM. Deeper Dalet-Adobe integration offers advanced functionality, such as “edit-while-record,” which is ideal for fast-paced news and sports workflows. Other key feature highlights include bi-directional metadata, genealogy tracking, and inheritance of rights. Adobe Premiere Pro projects can also be checked into the Dalet MAM and then checked out by other editing applications, enhancing collaboration across mixed editing environments. In addition to MAM integration, Dalet’s OneCut multimedia editor seamlessly exchanges content, associated metadata and markers with Adobe, Avid and Final Cut Pro NLEs, maintaining workflow continuity among production tools.

Setting the Standard for Temporal Conversion Recently announced, Dalet has combined the world-class expertise of AmberFin and Cinnafilm in frame rate conversion, scaling and de-interlacing to create an automated, reliable industrial transcoding platform that works at the highest performance for domestic, international and internet delivery. The GPU-accelerated frame rate conversion technology, in partnership with Cinnafilm, delivers fast, high-quality, motion-compensated frame rate conversion. The combination also yields a four-times reduction in the amount of hardware broadcasters need to purchase, install and maintain, and includes a fully featured transcoding and format conversion toolset. High-Performance Sports Integrations A major player in the sports market, Dalet MAM features enhanced integrations with Avid®, EVS and Quantel to provide maximum interoperability across the sports workflow. It also offers support for SportsML, Opta and SMT LWS, ensuring compatibility with industry-standard protocols and data services.
