Opportunity – it’s a word that’s been at the forefront of thoughts going into, and throughout, NAB. We themed our presence at the show around “the Power of Opportunity” – that power coming from robust technologies that are enabling our customers to drive the most advanced media workflows.

Where 2014 was a year of M&A activity, and 2015, if we’re honest, was largely a year of buzz-words – 2016 genuinely feels like the year when we start to realize the opportunities presented by cloud, IP and other emerging technology.

Joining us on the booth, we were please to welcome our friends Mick, Joe and Ed from Clippn. Clippn is an online stock-footage supplier, aggregating content from contributors around the globe and making that content available to a growing number of stock footage distributors such as Getty Images or Shutterstock. To support Clippn in this highly dynamic market place, we’ve deployed a complete end-to-end, cloud-based production system in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that enables Clippn to be highly responsive and scale their infrastructure on demand. It’s an excellent example of the kind of opportunity that cloud can afford us in deploying new media business models and it perfectly matches the vision we have with Dalet xN.

Bringing his insights to our executive breakfast event, Mick Reed, CEO of Clippn, was joined on stage by Wendy Allen of Fox Network Engineering and Operations (NE&O). In front of an audience of more than 100 senior industry executives, Wendy gave a great overview of how Fox are federating resources across sites and partnering with Dalet and other vendors to exploit cloud for dynamic resource provisioning.

Back on the booth, Tuesday night saw us partner with the Microsoft Azure team to launch our first marketplace appthe Dalet xN Standards Converter. 10 years ago, AmberFin technology changed the face of international media exchange by making the process of high-quality conversion of US-created content for European distribution and vice-versa both more affordable and file-based. This week we did it all over again, democratizing high-quality format conversion by making it available in a simple, easy-to-use web-based app, payable by the hour in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. This will later be joined by a suite of media processing apps to make high-quality content preparation and delivery available to anyone, broadening the power of opportunity far past its traditional boundaries.

If you didn’t make it to NAB this year, don’t worry – over the coming weeks we’ll be presenting a series of blogs that focus on the latest announcements and themes from the show – watch this space!

If you did make it to the show – we will happily answer any questions you might still have and also wish you a swift recovery 😉
