Dalet News Suite at BFMTV

A 24/7 integrated newsroom for a national network

The challenge

Put to air in record time a 24/7 news channel that could provide comprehensive, national and international news coverage on the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network and over the Internet.

The solution

BFMTV began installation of Dalet News Suite in September 2005 and went on-air two months later in November. In eight weeks, they trained 70 journalists, invented a new format and launched a national 24 by 7 news channel!
The tapeless newsroom allows BFMTV multi-skilled journalists to write stories, edit video, and record voice-overs right from their desktops – raising efficiencies and garnering maximum return on investment. The Dalet News Suite installation integrates Omneon video servers, Vizrt graphics, BDL teleprompters, and NetApp storage into a single news production entity.

The benefits

BFMTV was succesfully launched and imposed its brand in the French media landscape:
"We designed the infrastructure of BFMTV on the principles of performance, ease of use and mobility. Our integrated Dalet platform includes over 90 workstations and successfully empowers the whole BFMTV workflow."
Alain Weill, CEO, NextRadio TV - Shareholder meeting, January 06.
