Fjölmiðlavaktin monitors Icelandic newscasts, news-related programs, and talk shows. Dalet ActiveLog enables Fjölmiðlavaktin to record, store, and manage in digital form simultaneous audio recordings from the various programs it monitors.
Television programs are received via standard satellite receivers (1). Corresponding audio feeds are captured using a workstation equipped with a Digigram miXart audio board and running Dalet Audio FIFO recorder (2). All programs are continuously captured in a 72 hour-long loop. Using Dalet scheduling pattern mechanism (3), recording schedules are automatically created for each monitored program. These recording jobs can apply to any timeframe in the future and up to 72 hours in the past (FIFO loop length). Recordings of TV programs are extracted from the FIFO according to the applied schedule by a Dalet application server running as a back-office program (4) and are stored for three months on a standard IT server (5). Transcription staff can access recordings using their Dalet ActiveLog Media Player by selecting the desired program from the schedule.
